Join us for a walk in the woods each Sunday for the fall. We'll explore different forest habitats in the Northampton area, with an eye towards all things fungi. Meet and great these not-so-distant cousins of ours, from tasty edibles to powerful medicinals and the potentially deadly poisonous!

• Sundays from 10-1130am through at least Nov. 1, weather depending. (7 sessions).
• Walks held at EITHER Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area, 61 North Farms Road, Northampton (Florence), OR Robert Hills Conservation Area, Dimock St, Leeds. Walks alternate location each week. See maps below.
• Dates: 9/20 (Fitzgerald Lake), 9/27 (Robert Hills), 10/4 (Fitzgerald Lake), 10/11 (Robert Hills), 10/18 (Fitzgerald Lake), 10/25 (Robert Hills), 11/1 (Fitzgerald Lake)
• FREE, a 10$ suggested donation supports this program and public fruit tree planting.
• COVID-19: Participants will be masked and socially distance.
• Open to all ages if accompanied by an adult.

Walks are lead by the knowledgeable Dean Colpack and Kevin Aderer, veteran 'shroomers and nature educators of many years. Species of interest that may be found include chicken of the woods, turkey tail, reishi, maitake, artist's conk, boletes, chanterelles, trumpet mushrooms, amanitas, earth stars, cordyceps, lichens, slime molds, witch's butter and more!

This fall's walks funded the planting of 40 community fruit trees in the Valley!

Locations alternate weekly between:
Robert Hills Conservation Area, Leeds (Dimock St. parking)     Fitzgerald Lake, Northampton/Florence
